I. Introduction
New Jeans is the debut EP of Korean girl group NewJeans. It was released on August 1, 2022 and features four songs, including three title tracks: "Attention," "Hype Boy" and "Cookie."
II. Background & Release
The group was announced in 2021. On July 1, 2022, the group released the first teaser videos. The next day, the group debuted their first single "Attention" without any prior promotion or information about the group's line-up.
The following day, four versions of the second single "Hype Boy" was released, following different members. Content was also released about the upcoming debut EP and the names of the members. A third video "Hurt" was released two days later.
The album debuted on August 1, with an additional single "Cookie." On the first day of release, New Jeans broke multiple records as the highest-selling girl group. The group debuted on M Countdown on August 4 with all three singles.
The group is comprised of teenagers with a youthful sound and style. The music on their debut EP and look of the MV were highly reflective of the 00s nostalgia popular at the time. It was described as "a sophisticated brand of pop - easy listening anywhere, anytime - and has been produced in a way that focuses on the members' natural voices without overengineering their sound."
Group members Hanni and Danielle have writing credits on the album.

The EP broken the record for highest pre-orders for any Korean girl group debut album. It also set the record for first-day sales. The album debuted at #9 on the Oricon charts. All of the EP's songs debuted in the Circle and Melon charts. "Attention" debuted at #14, "Hype Boy" at #21, "Cookie" at #81 and "Hurt" at #137. "Attention" also charted in NZ, Singapore and Vietnam, as well as the WW chart at #174. "Hype Boy" charted in Singapore and Vietnam, while the other two songs also charted in Vietnam.
