    I. Introduction

    "New Axis" is the track on the NCT 2021 Universe all-unit album and was released on December 14, 2021.


    NCT collaborates on special albums that include all members and the group's sub-units on a variety of songs. Each of the regular sub-units has its own song, while members also participate in the rotational NCT U unit on specific songs.


    This NCT U unit features three of the group's main rappers on a rap song: Taeyong, one of the main rappers of NCT 127; Mark, one of the main rappers of NCT 127 and NCT Dream; and YangYang, the main rapper in WayV. The trio are often considered the best three rappers in the group.


    Members Mark and Taeyong have each co-written many songs for NCT, as well as other artists. For this song, they wrote the raps separately, then combined them into the song.


    The song is in a combination of Korean and English. The lyrics reference several NCT songs, including a well-known line from an NCT 127 song, "Mad City," that featured Mark and Taeyong rapping: "Mark is absolutely fully capable." In this song, Mark raps that he is "qualified, yeah, very much."
