I. Introduction

Ten Months is a 2021 South Korean comedy drama by Sun Namkoong, starring Choi Sung Eun, Baek Hyun Jin, Kim Geun Young, Seo Young Joo, & Yoo Eden. The first screening took place at 20th New York Asian Film Festival on August 6th to 22nd, 2021 & it was theatrically released in South Korea on October 14th, 2021.

II. Synopsis

Ten Months portrays the experience of Mi Rae, a twenty-nine-year-old video game developer, from the moment she becomes pregnant to her childbirth. As time goes by, she realizes how much her surroundings aren't conducive to childbirth, & the film conveys her situation so vividly as if perceived through VR headgear. Writer-director Sun Namkoong's feature debut seamlessly blends humor and pathos in this captivating tale about a young woman finding her way forward when her own world's been turned upside down.

Shikhar Verma of HIGHON Films has stated as followed - Overall, Ten Months is a light-hearted look at unplanned pregnancy and the chaos induced when one leads into it completely unaware. Namkoong Sun’s approach to the subject matter feels fresh in spite of revisiting familiar tropes and that is a feat on its own.
