    I. Introduction

SM Station 2020 is the fourth season of SM Station singles featuring artists from SM Entertainment. The season ran from May 1, 2020 to November 27, 2020 and included 10 songs, although only 6 were released as digital singles. The remainder were released as special videos on the SM Station YouTube Channel.

    II. Background & Release

SM Station is a digital music project under SM Entertainment that involves solos or duets from members in existing SM groups, as well as opportunities for singers to experiment in other genres or collaborate with artists inside and outside of SM Entertainment. The project releases a number of singles digitally each year on digital platforms, including streaming audio like Spotify.

Season 4 started with the release of "Still Standing" by Suran and Yesung on May 1, 2020. Unlike previous seasons, which were released weekly or bi-weekly, this season's releases were less regular, reflecting the ongoing impact of the COVID pandemic. Singles were also not numbered in press releases, as in previous seasons, such as the fourth release, 15th, etc. Additionally, the season was not defined by a number.

The season featured songs from first-, second- and third-generation Kpop artists, as well as DJs. This season also featured the debut of orchestral versions of popular SM songs utilizing the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestral group would later be officially called the SMClassicsTown Orchestra in 2021.

Unlike previous seasons, which featured original songs, many of the songs in this season were live versions or rearranged versions of songs on artist's albums. Additionally, the live versions were released only as special videos on the SM Station YouTube channel and were not released as digital singles.
