  • I. Introduction

    Candle Light (사랑한단 뜻이야) is a digital single from the NCT sub-unit, NCT Dream, and the third single of SM Station Season 3. It was released on December 27, 2018.


    II. Background & Release

    SM Station is a digital music project under SM Entertainment that involves solos or duets from members in existing SM groups, as well as opportunities for singers to experiment in other genres or collaborate with artists inside and outside of SM Entertainment. The project releases a number of singles digitally each year on digital platforms, including streaming audio like Spotify.


    "Candle Light (사랑한단 뜻이야 )," the third single of the season is a winter single from the NCT sub-unit, NCT Dream. NCT Dream was originally designed as a teenage boy group, with members graduating from the group once they reached adulthood (20 in Korean, 19 international age.) This holiday single was the last single to feature Mark, as he was graduating from the group due to his age. He would rejoin the group in late 2020 after the graduation concept was dropped.


    SM described the song as "a mid-tempo pop song with a bright mood that harmonizes with acoustic guitar sounds." Group member Mark contributed to writing the lyrics on the song, as he often has for his raps in NCT 127, NCT Dream and NCT U songs.


    NCT Dream had previously released a winter song, "Joy" in SM Station Season 2.
