i agree. i never understood why RM got attacked when the other members said the N word too and didnt apologize
I've only followed NL and Savage's Korean charting. Has either song charted on the Billboard Global 200 or the Billboard Global 200 excluding US???
yes. you can check all the billboard placings for korean artists here
i can't see instagram likes anymore. i think my country banned it
Maybe they’re more memorable because they’re currently active but you’ll probably forget who they are when 5th gen happens in several years time
its a lot harder to release at the same time as bp
Display MoreI know 2ne1's lack of activities had more to do with the member's personal problems than anything, but YG still chose to immediately replace them with a 4 member girl group. If YGE were going for an SNSD concept, you'd think they'd want 9 members or at least more than 4. SNSD's large number had a lot to do with the "cheerleader" feeling they gave off, which was better replicated with Twice.
Here's what YG said: "I tried to make the YG version of a girl group like I did with 2NE1. But this time I wanted the girls to look pretty too, with skills."
Sounds like he's aware that BP was formed with the objective of being a group ~in the vein of~ 2ne1 while also bringing a sense of glamour 2ne1 was lacking. Which I think they accomplished very well.
BTW, I don't dislike BlackPink, I actually enjoy plenty of their songs/performances. I just get annoyed when 2nd gen groups get downplayed, when it's obvious they did a lot to lay down the foundation that 3rd and 4th gen groups stand on now.
2ne1 were the blueprint of girl crush, period.
making a yg style group doesnt mean he was copying 2ne1. every group under yg is a yg style group. like treasure for example is a yg style group are they a copy of 2ne1? nope
they said she was confirmed probably to try to pressure her into going. thats corny, i'm glad she's not going
at least she can bond with lisa now
2ne1 didnt invent it either but bp definitely popularised it for the new gens, everyones doing it now
I don't think it matters much. Twice's kr numbers have been consistent for the past few years whether they were near jp releases or not.
theyll finally get to meet blackpink
which song is more better
seems more like she was saying naega
Dude, how many times will you change the narrative? Before it was "it's just a single album" Dude, the drama over purchase of HYLT was literally everywhere on twitter and akp, yall were ripping each other throats and begging not to buy it. There was a thread "what to do with funds" with 20 plus pages. Yall are pathetic and insecure and knew that's your only chance.
Dude, one sold 500k the other sold 700k, where is the million? And each solo fandom was doing separate funding projects. even during the group album for solo releases, literally all receipts are on twitter. Ktown is the best measure of funding projects, and literally half of the sales are from there. Twice only has 100k at best there, 1/6 of their total sales. Get the hell outta here with your bs
Narrative hasn't changed. Mentioning additional reasons isn't changing the narrative. it's still is just a 1 song release and that's still the main reason. If 1 song releases sold as much as regular albums a lot of labels wouldn't even bother making side tracks.
There really wasn't much drama about the funds, there was barely anyone thinking "yeah let's put it all on this 1 song release". Those threads here were just filled with non-fans having a giggle thinking it would hurt The Albums sales.
There was no desperate attempt to break the album sales record, bp easily doubled it on the first update and still it continues to sell well. It sold so much that even if you discount all sales from ktown it still easily has the record. But ktown isn't only for funded albums, that's just where most ifans get their albums from (Bts fans don't bother with it cause fans can just buy bts albums from local music stores).
I think you're contradicting yourself a bit. You're saying the whole fandom had to desperately try its hardest to break the record but also that solo stans didn't contribute to its sales and instead saved up for the solo releases so what's the truth? If bp was easily able to double the record even without the help of large chunks of the fandom then that just further proves bp's superior selling ability compared to other girl groups and how much would it have sold it solo stans bought? 2M? If solo stans did buy The Album then that just proves bp don't need a lengthy hiatus to sell well because there was only 6 months between The Album and the solo releases which is a regular gap between releases.
