If you look at their predicted scores, see good enough digitals, and see that the main group they're up against will not get a comparable digital score (which tends to make up the bigger chunk of the scoring on most of these shows), you're not going to feel moved to vote. Then again, Kiss of Life needed votes to beat ONF and still couldn't manage, so it's not like this is a problem specific to Illit.

The last girl is Jeemin and she's currently on I-Land 2 (or whatever the show is called) for the pledis group (again idk if that's what it's for, but the point is she's on another survival show within the hybe label). She was their #1 contestant in the pre-ranks, was in the finals and if the show went by votes alone, she would've made the group along with a contestant named Jeongeon, but they picked Moka and Yunah over the 2 of them as pd picks.
As far as the WHY... there's a lot that was up in the air with their decisions, but the gist of it is that Wonhee, Iroha, Minju, and Youngseo (who is no longer in the group) were all but guaranteed to be in the group, so the last 2 spots were left to compete for among the other 6 contestants. It realistically was Moka vs Jeongeun and Yunah vs Jeemin for those last 2 spots as they have relatively similar skillsets/niches (or at the very least, they always made it seem that way) and they went with Yunah because her vocals are a little better, she was more versatile in the concepts she can do, and she showed more potential for variety as she had some funny moments here and there.
That's what I think anyways as the whole show was a mess and poorly done.
This is why I don't really mind official positions. Who cares if the visual/main dancer/sub-vocalist or the visual/center/fotg/rapper/sub-vocalist (or whatever combo) is a bad singer when it's in writing that they're not in the group to be a good one in the first place? It'd be like making an entire video/post/thread hating Momo for not being a good singer and I'd look like the idiot beating a dead horse.
edit: tbh it's not like their ability to sing even impacts the group's bottom lines that much, all the hate but the groups still have fans and still chart well enough.

Yea, it's always been clear that she was their best singer (an argument could be made for G**** before she left, but I don't wanna summon her stans) and Coachella just drove home an obvious point. I always assumed Chaewon just wants to do her job and go home, and a solo career is not something she cares about.
Ngl, she should've just kept it up. I'm all for idols clapping back if they want to (even if I agree with some critiques). But if you're gonna talk about it, be about it, b/c nothing on the internet is ever truly gone (especially as an idol in a group that popular lol). But that's the part of me that loves watching drama speaking, lol.
Babymomster is talented, and I think they'll get a nomination, but winning doesn't seem likely. ROTY is usually the group that blows up or has a super successful year, and a lot of times it's predictable unless a dark horse appears. It's only April so there's still time for a random dark horse to pop up, but currently, Illit seems to have the best chance as their song debut is popular, and they managed to enter the Hot 100 less than a month after debut (91 so they just made it, but I didn't expect to see them at all, so it's interesting). QWER might be a good contender too if they keep up the momentum (an idol band winning would be cool as well).

I've been keeping up with the group since the show they were on and yea this is about right. You can switch Moka and Iroha around depending on the day, but neither are good singers and were only put in the group for their dance skills and appeal to the Japanese market as it was really clear that BeLift wanted that. Wonhee sounding worse than Yunah live has been a little surprising since they hyped up her vocals all throughout the show
