Thank you for the mostly nice responses. As I said, if you are a non-toxic fan, I wish you well.

No one has a gun against your head to participate in fandom life. It’s so easy to avoid and social media gives us so many tools.

Why would you let anyone else ruin something you like. Could never be me.

I mean I understand that some people can be influenced like that but I just feel it’s not worth it lol.

Funny. I have actually tried that. Blocking people and trying to find non-toxic people to follow, but somehow I kept seeing negative stuff and fanwar shit on my time line, mostly from fans of artist A saying horrible stuff about her members and the other way around. Not going to say the fandom specifically, as I have seen shit in basically every fandom and I don't want to make it about one fandom.

Stopped going to that social media. Let's read Kpop articles on Kpop websites instead. Wait, there are plenty of toxic comments there too or even in the articles themselves there are mentions of fanwars. So, cannot read articles anymore about Kpop either. Watching Youtube then. Too bad, people talking shit there as well.

Join a forum group devoted to my number 1 group, even on a small forum? They start fighting about stuff as well, because member A has better clothes and is treated as the favorite by the company and drag drag drag.

I now associate Kpop so much with toxicity that I find no joy in it anymore.

Thank you for signing up to a kpop forum to tell everyone why you're tired of kpop. The world is now a better place.

    You're very welcome.

If it bothers you, take delight in the knowledge that it doesn't bother you nearly as much as years of pathetic fanwars and hatred by pathetic people towards hard working artists and other fandoms have bothered me for years.

People are trolling and fighting even outside of kpop. It does not matter if you are discussing politics, video games, sport or even investing into stocks. Some people are always fighting and talking trash everywhere. You just have to take it as grain of salt.

I have had several hobbies and interests, but never saw the same kind of pathetic hatred and desire for people to be dragged for the dumbest reasons as in Kpop.

Dating-"scandals", lazy-"scandals" and other "scandals" about things that Western people normally don't care the smallerst bit about when it concerns a Western celebrity, but they are then happy to drag artists or fandoms for when it comes to Kpop artists.

Drag, drag, drag and that disgusting delight when they find some reason to be hateful when someone has an off-day and fails at the smallest thing. Worst are the solo stans dragging other members that are in the same group as their fave.

Stuff no normal person cares about, become topics for huge fanwars and reasons to insult hardworking artists they never met.

    Just ugh.

I just wrote a post about why I left Kpop (its toxicity). Then made the mistake to look and see if people had some non-toxic things to say and maybe actually enjoy supporting their faves.

This is the first thread I see.

    OP, you're pathetic.

Everyone else being here because they're mad they can't hate this or whatever other Kpop artist, you're pathetic too.

Grow up and stop your childish fanwars.

When I first got into Kpop, I loved it.

I listened to music, enjoyed the MVs, bought albums of many different groups and had a great time watching their content.

Then I made a big mistake: I started interacting with other fans and reading what they had to say.

I have never in my life seen such petty hatred for people they don't even know as from Kpop fandoms.

And it wasn't just the big fandoms either: small fandoms squabbling the moment their faves got some success and then hating artists of other fandoms, wishing they would do badly.

The desire for artists, who are actual people, to make mistakes and have scandals that ruin them was disgusting to see. Even when I looked on sites with news articles, I still see lots of hateful comments from people, delighting when an artist, group or fandom has a setback.

I had one group I liked more than the others, so I figured: what if I just support the girls and stay within that fandom, it might be all right.

No. Even between fans of the individual members, there was and probably is still constant hate that is often even more intense than the pathetic fights between different fandoms.

And whether it is about fights between fandoms or within fandoms, people always had the same excuse for behaving like trash: "But they do it too". No, idiot, you make your own choices and you are choosing to be a piece of crap.

I am now at the point that I removed most Kpop from my playlists. I also stopped buying albums and I did that quite often.

Fandoms shouldn't disrupt one's love for something, but Kpop fandoms managed it.

If you ever wonder why not more people are supporting your faves, it might be because you turned people off with your stupid, pathetic fanwars.

Hopefully, I will regain my love for Kpop some time and I hope that the non-toxic fans will prevail some day. If you are a non-toxic fan, I wish you well.

If you delight in people having setbacks or being toxic, you are dumb and pathetic. Grow up.
