It depends on the song and the execution of it. Examples of good use of autotune would be Runaway, Shadow or Black Swan, those are songs that require it (at least in the chorus) for them to sound like the voices are in the song, and not just separate things that don't belong together. It also pays off with some other parts that don't have a lot of autotune, and that really does help to let us know that the people we are listening to know how to sing/rap.
The problem comes when they start either overdoing it or just doing a poor job at it. I think a good example is what they did while autotuning Permission to Dance. I feel they did a pretty bad job at it and it sounds overdone and wonky even. I can understand putting autotune on the rappers singing but they totally overdid it so much that it sounds bad, and also putting autotune on the vocal line on the verses just doesn't make sense to me, one of the reasons I didn't care about the autotune in Black Swan is because they didn't put too much autotune on the rest of the song and let the singers do their thing.
I'm not saying this to hate on BTS or TXT, but it feels like Hybe is underestimating their talent and puts autotune over it, when they clearly don't need it most of the time. Every song has some kind of autotune but that is just a poor job by the producers.
