I was scolded for wearing it so I decided to avoid the unpleasant feeling of being told off again but not wearing it again because I had the memory of feeling embarrassed in my mind

Wow teachers really??? And they care?
Teachers care about you. Teachers are kind, sensible, educated individuals. If you decide to approach them, they will treat you with fair treatment, respect and help you as much as they can if you have a worry which is an academic or pastoral problem.
You need to respect them for a healthy relationship to be established.
