It's ironic that he wants to leave the show when everybody else want to stay. Idol career is not fair indeed.

Don't think Tencent cares because it is a business. They are not actually into making a real group.
-
He's number 10
He can't simply quite without paying a penalty!
"Alas, his contract binds him to stay on the show or else he would be obliged to pay a hefty fine - an article of the contract Ivanov, who is now known under his stage name Lelush, apparently did not read closely."
Yeah pretty much contract obligations his company signed. I wondered how Kazuma left though. Maybe everyone is under different contract terms.
-
Just leave the show. It is that easy. Unless his company does not allow him to do so.
-
Recently got into cdrama from the mainland and never looked back. Period dramas are my favorite.
-
Good to know local films are doing well. Most of the world's cinemas are dominated by Hollywood films.
-
Dude just drop out the show already. Or does his company won't allow it?

The reality does not jive with what the western government and media have portray the Xinjiang region and everyone here and west it seems buy into it hook line and sinker. The facts are that for the last 40 years the standard of living improved in that region 200 times that's 20000% improvements. The population in Xinjiang also doubled over that period where the rest of China basically grew single digit. The one child policy that was institute did not apply to minority groups such as Uyghurs in Xinjiang. The chinese money even have these ethnic groups on it and minority people even get preferential treatment in schools as they are given extra points for university entrance exams to make it a little easier to get in. The hypocrisy of US government in dealing with muslim by bombing, killing, invading muslim countries over decades nonstop and then turn around and fabricate lies about China's treatment Xinjiang. The US policy over two decades of attack in these muslim countries have destabilize the region such as in Afghanistan a muslim country which border the region of Xinjiang which caused terrorisms in Xinjiang over decade and half. Instead of US policy of destruction destabilization, China wanted to stabilize Xinjiang region by educating people and raising their standard of living. When people are content and educated they are much less likely to become extremist. So their policy was to educate the people with mandarin and teach them vocational skills in camps, so that they can better compete/get jobs in Xinjiang or outside if they so choose because they can now speak mandarin the national language. They build infrastructures(belt & road), and housings for poor and modernizing Xinjiang cities. Through these policies, the region had no terrorists' attacks for several years now. People can freely move around the entire China and the fact is over 200 million people have visited Xinjiang in 2019 alone. If there were these so called atrocities there, you can't possibly let this amount of people visit think about the logistic and policing that would be involved. Many of these so called atrocities are satellite photos that turned out to be normal schools and other buildings and anecdotal personal accounts many of which were proven false and made up. What I have are statistical data over many years which can't be easily fabricated or manipulated like personal accounts. In the court of law, personal testimonies are worst kind of evidence. Since 2003 every year, the independent Harvard University have done study on approval ratings on Chinese government from Chinese people. It has risen since then to over 93% or so approval rating! This coincide with rapid improvement across all sectors and have made China soon to be number one economy in the world in a few years. 93% approval rating means that the people are happy themselves in general and everything that comes along with happiness such as plentiful food, shelter, sense of safety, sense of freedom, community, family, and optimism for the future and personal fulfillment. This versus US historical approval rating of around 50%. All this just doesn't jive with what is portrayed by US media and western government/media in general. It just annoys me how one sided this all is and it's shocking to see how biased kpop community is without any critical reflection.
We are conditioned to hate on certain countries through media brainwashing for years so it's not surprising of the anti China bias in western countries and its allies. I mean about 95% of the world's medias are controlled by few corporations, all under US/Israel umbrella. Here is an example of such brainwashing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHfgU8oMSo
US has been trying to destabilize Xinjiang for years through terrorism. That failed as you mentioned. So they are coming up with new strategies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N385vKhXYQ
You will just be called a wumao, ccp shill, etc. People trying to show the truth through social media will get banned, censored, demonetized, or any other kind of suppression. Nothing new.

Don't think she can rebound from this. She needs to find a new career.

DC3 might have disappointed after that incredible opening weekend.
But it really took pan-Asian collaboration to another level by starring Japanese and Thai talent (like Chuang 2021!):

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy. It would so cool to have Asian films breaking $1Billion. But you need the biggest markets in China, Japan and Korea to act together to allow synchronized openings. This is Lee Sooman's vision. The Korean market is too small for K-Ent's ambitions. KPOP is great but grosses in music is much smaller than cinema. The social and cultural impact is far less as well.
A lot of countries in Asia have talent and personel. I think Thailand and Vietnam
produce some pretty good quality film and dramas. The problem is the market size. A common Asian market where a Thai or Viet filmmaker can reach across borders would raise the level for everyone.
In order to achieve a big Asian market, large population countries need to get rich. Second is politics. Too many problems in that department to get any unity, especially for East Asia.

I was reading that two films premiering on the same weekend and each making over $600M is unprecedented. "Hi Mom!" made over $810M and its popularity was completely word of mouth! Unlike Detective Chinatown, it is not a franchise and is instead a family oriented comedy so it was a real big surprise.
Without "Mom", DC3 could have crossed $1B. Maybe DC4 will :)
DC3 had a $400 million opening weekend but failed to make $300 million total after that. It broke a lot of records but I don't think it would have broken 1 billion even if Hi Mom was not there. It was the worst received film of the franchise. New Year curse exists when the number 1 debut film didn't win the box office just like Chuang center curse.

The Asian market is in the billions already. The top box offices in 2019 before the pandemic:

The East Asian market, especially, is massive where China/Japan/Korea are in the top 5 and together matches the English speaking market of the US/UK/Canada/Australia.
But the Chinese box is still growing while that of the US/Canada had pretty much reached its full potential. In 2020, the China box office and a Chinese war film "The 800" were biggest respectively in the world.
This year, as shown in the original post above, the gap between the Chinese box office and the US is even larger. It is a trend that will continue to grow in the coming years.
Lee Sooman knows exactly what he is talking about when he called for Asia's Hollywood in China. This is really the economic future of East Asian entertainment.
(Bollywood is also a major Asian film market as people know. But from what I read, its revenues are very small for the size of the country -- smaller than South Korea's -- and worse there is little growth. In fact, Indian theater numbers had been static for years. There are 10,000 screens in India while in China, they've expanded to 75000 screens in just the past few years.)
Total revenue is already in billions. I am referring to per film basis. I mean China alone can get to 1 billion gross per film if the scenario is right. Detective Chinatown 3 had all the hype but word of mouth prevented it from becoming the first 1 billion usd grosser in a single territory.
-
Asia has the most people. If all can get rich, box office going to be in billions easily.
-
I don't think so. If it is true, Korean companies would rather be in Youth With You or Chuang. So far they are sending Chinese trainees.

I hope you are right that there's no effect from the Chinese government on feminine idols. And I hope you are wrong on a fixed lineup!
OMG! I'm infatuated with Liu Yu and his looks. With Kazuma gone, it's even worse now. Yetao gets me too at times.
I mean look at how beautiful he is! I can see why so many are shipping him and Santa after that dance battle:

Yetao also gets me when he is wearing traditional too!

Yeah, I do worry just a little that their government will find this too "feminine" and take away. But I'm sure you are right in that is probably not much to worry about.
Government guidelines can easily be bypassed. Look at time traveling, BL, and other stuff. We see all of these genres in Cdramas. Remember the hair color ban? If there is a real ban, you won't make it to TV at all.

Shanghai is considered South China correct?
Interesting observation from an Indian woman living in China. She said she's 5'5" which is actually fairly tall for a woman and she is constantly looking up at people in Shanghai. The height of people in China was her number 1 shock when first arriving in China. (Her husband is very tall but he is from Northern China. )

Shanghai is in East China region but it is considered as southern part of China. I think height increase has to do with nutrition as China is getting wealthier. Tall genes have already existed in China. Average terracotta warrior height is 185cm and records and bones have shown ancient people to be taller than modern people.

Liu Yu is very popular in Vietnam. I think he will break the curse. But there is one small bit of worry at least from what I read. The communist government has publicized editorials about the "feminization" of Chinese boys.
And Liu Yu is considered "beautiful" visually not "handsome" in the sense that he trends towards what is considered more visually appealing in CPOP girl idols than in boy ones.
Other Chinese centers in their nation BGs are definitely less flower boys. XuKun has similar physical beauty but he has height and an attitude that's very male.
Oscar, Yinpeng or Keyu fit "ideal" Chinese BG centers better. In fact, Santa and Mika would too. Anyways, I like Liu Yu to make the team and I think he will but if there is a small chance that he might not then it would be because of this and a possible backlash.
Don't need to worry about those rumors. If the government wants to get rid of feminine idols, just ban these shows all together. Only way Liu Yu is out is Tencent already got a fixed lineup from the start. Most of these shows are rigged anyway so I won't be surprised if he does not debut.
-
I hope not! I think Liu Yu can break this curse. The Chuang theme song centers were all so skilled and cute but Liu Yu seems to have top five type popularity that the other other didn't quite have.
I think he will break the curse since hes in the top ranking every week so far.
-
Liu Yu is the center. All centers has L for last name. Will the curse continue?
