Edit: I need a question about a topic to teach, rather than spitting out answers. I Gave blyleth the answer because (hopefully) they were only testing me. (oh yea I did that by hand! ANS = (122/100)*(100-5+22) )

Edit 2: [long version: 122 posts, 1% of that is 1.22. 5% is not going to earn akorns so 100% -5*1% = 122-5*1.22 = 115.9. 22% is going to earn double so 95%-22%+2(22%) = 115.9-26.84+2(26.84) = 142.74 akorns.

So how we break this down is that there are two types of probability in this question: Rotten or not, or Apple V Orange.

The question asks for Both are orange or both are not rotten

how we can break this down is

1. Rotten and Apple/Orange do not depend on each other

==> The probabilities can add cleanly; they have nothing to do with each other

The question now becomes: Probability of 2x rotten + Probability of 2x orange = ?

If you choose two fruits, and don't put them back, that is called a non replacement.

If I had 5 dice, 2 green and 3 blue, and wanted the probability of two blues, I would have to start with the first "dice taking"

Total: 5 dice, Want total: 3 blue dice, probability is 3/5. Normal stuff.

but for the second "dice taking", There is one less blue AND there is one less total dice. so we decrease each by one

Total: 4 dice, Want total: 2 blue dice, probability is 2/4.

Since second taking depended on first taking AND it asks for the same kind of probability, we combine the two together by multiplying them.

probability of 2 blue dice = 3/5*2/4 = 3/10 probability.

now the question becomes

first taking(rotten) * second taking(rotten) + first taking(orange) * second taking(orange) = total probability
