BTS needed that Grammy

  • For military exemption they need to set a bar which can't be cleared easily, and I think that caused the problem.

If the requirement was number of albums sold, or x number of weeks on Billboard, fandoms (probably also companies) would get to work focusing on meeting those goals, a lot of them could do it, and SK wouldn't want a flood of boy bands they've barely heard of getting out of doing their service.

I think BTS were told that if they won a Grammy that would become the exemption requirement for the KPop category, because it's a very hard thing to achieve. And I think Vegas was supposed to be a massive Grammy/exemption celebration.

So I think they're going to enlist, and it blows, because whether we're fans or not we can all see the huge amount of money and attention they've brought to Korea. But classical pianists must do more I guess...

  • I'm just gonna unfairly generalise and assume all BTS posts are this nonsensical like this.

  • no what bts needed was for kpop companies to mind their own business and stop using them as scapegoats. if those 100 companies didn't get together and demand exemptions for their groups, then the Order of Cultural Merit would have been used as criteria for exemption. but because those same companies complained and pitched a fit over the merit being "too difficult", they had to try and look for something else

basically this, bts should've been given exemptions back in 2019

    Completely agree with this

But also, korean government shouldn't have been dragging this matter so long. Literally everyone was involving themselves & dragging this issue, but in the end its bts getting the heat. Its always like this.

Bts should just save their big events for countries like Japan, where media actually treats them as they should be treated these last few years.

  • I don't think so. It would be infinitely sad for Korean government to take a foreign music award as the benchmark for military exemption. A total joke.

  • They did that for ballet dancer and soccer players too🤷‍♀️

  • BTS doesn't deserve an exemption. Simply because there are so many more people involved in their success. The songwriters, choreographers, managers, stylists, producers. Do they deserve a half exemption? Why does BTS get the exemption and not those behind the scenes that have made them what they are?

then what are the olimpics or the world football championship but a foreign award :wellr: . Musics of all over the world would like to win it

The Olympics are historical international events. Football championships are also prestigious international events. Meanwhile the Grammy is a local music awards show. Not comparable at all.
