What is with discrediting other solo artist / groups?

Why is it that when I go on any form of social media I always see people discrediting the hardwork of others? It's always when one artist or groups achieves something that someone has to say something to make it seem like what they achieved doesn't mean anything or the other way that them achieving what they did makes what others before them somehow means nothing
