The difference being that while conspiracy theorists are actually harmful, kpop stans are mostly just... 16.
Let me expound:
1. Prone to believing lose narratives about the artists.
2. Highly susceptible to conspiracy theories.
3. Irrational behaviour.
This is not to say I believe they are really comparable but I see the parallels. When these kids grow up they will be more paranoid about the world than your average person who doesn't believe on conspiracy theories.
What compels these people to think like that? Well fetishization of homosexual relationships and asian people definitely plays a part but I also believe the environment they live in plays a part.
A 14 year old who does not have a voice in front of their parents is more likely to project their frustrations online.
What worries me is how easily influenced these people are. Nazis and fascists are known to target communities with an existing culture like how the kpop community has its own. If such people are so easily fooled who is to say they won't fall prey to them?
