Gaon is the shipments (albums shipped to retailers to be sold) and Hanteo is the actual number of albums bought by people. Gaon doesn't mean all that much because companies can (pre)order as many albums as they want. Hanteo is where the real numbers come in because they are albums that have actually been bought. So the gap between the two is albums shipped/ordered but not actually bought by anybody. If people order from out of country, it can also create a small gap I believe. Hope this helps!
