The police announced that they will be fully prepared for the BTS comeback concert scheduled for the 21st at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, stating that they cannot rule out the possibility of a terrorist attack due to the worsening situation in the Middle East.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency issued a press release on the 13th stating that it would mobilize all available personnel from the Special Police Force to conduct a preliminary safety inspection of the entire venue.
The police stated, “If a bomb threat report is received on the day of the event, it could cause significant disruption to the proceedings,” adding, “We plan to respond preemptively by operating an analysis and response team to analyze the risk level of the report.”
They further emphasized, “If public threats, such as bomb threats, result in a waste of police resources and cause disruption to the event, we will pursue and apprehend the perpetrators to the end, adhering to the principle of detention during investigation,” and added, “We also intend to hold them strictly accountable for civil damages.”
The police plan to completely block incidents and accidents by installing police buses and water-barrel-type barricades on the roads in preparation for the possibility of vehicles rushing into the venue. They will also install walk-through metal detectors at 30 visitor entrances to prevent dangerous items from being brought into the venue.
