According to their agency Around Us on the 16th, Highlight (BEAST) will release the pre-release track "No Ending" from their sixth mini-album From Real to Surreal on music platforms at 6 p.m. today.
This marks the first time in nine years that Highlight is releasing a new song under the name BEAST, since their 2016 full-length album Highlight. Last year, Highlight reached an agreement with their former agency Cube Entertainment regarding the use of the BEAST trademark.
"No Ending" is a song that compares a past relationship to the ending of a movie. It conveys feelings of regret about a breakup and longing for the memories shared.
Around Us stated, “Through ‘No Ending,’ Highlight continues their memories as BEAST,” and added, “This special and meaningful move will be an opportunity for Highlight and their longtime fans to reflect on the valuable time they've shared and to reaffirm their strong bond.”
Highlight originally debuted in 2009 as a six-member group under the name BEAST. During their BEAST era, their representative song "Fiction" beat out strong contenders on KBS 2TV’s Gayo Daechukje (Song Festival) and was selected as ‘Song of the Year’ in 2011, establishing them as a leading second-generation idol group.
In 2016, they chose not to renew their contract with Cube Entertainment and established their own independent label, Around Us. Since Cube retained the rights to the name BEAST, they had not been able to use it until now. After the departures of Jang Hyunseung and Yong Junhyung, the current full lineup consists of Yoon Doojoon, Yang Yoseob, Lee Gikwang, and Son Dongwoon.
The full album From Real to Surreal will be released on April 28 at 6 p.m.
