How do idols feel when they are in western events in general?

I won't mention any idol names, but I've seen some akward situation where western celebrities are very touchy in a positive way. The idols are either nervous or scared. Some male idols even try to steer away from females. Culture shock for them? Not everybody is like this of course, but some.
