QWER, Plave, Day6 - the dismantling of Kpop accelerates

  • The rise of Qwer and band music is quite remarkable but fearsome at the same time.

Qwer is not from the Kpop tradition.

It is a Japanese style girl band, a brainchild of the youtube personality Kim Gyeran (which is why Qwer cannot show up in music shows since it is not considered to be real singers), consisting some VJs and a failed AKB clone group member.

Meanwhile, aespa's run at Melon is threatened by Plave, a virtual idol group.

there is a reason Plave is popular. It is popular among women in their 30s-early 40s, who are a bit too old to be swooning for idols who are way younger than them since it would not seem to be proper.

Sincer Plave is virtual there is no need to show the ages of the fans. In short, Plave has become like Lim Youngwoong among women who are too old to go to idol concerts, but too young to fall for trottists like Lim Youngwoong.

Plave's organizers picked the correct niche and attacked it well.

However, because of its own limitations, it cannot really hold fan meetings, concerts, etc . I heard that in Japan there are people who pay money to watch the virtual idol 'performing', but Korea is not like that. Not too many people will pay big money to watch basically a piece of animation.

Meanwhile, emboldened by the success of Gidle's fate and now Qwer, Day6, long in the back burner of JYPE but now getting a bit more respectable, is planning to strike on its own.

The 1,345 years old singer, who never loses a chance to undermine Kpop, isnow calling them up in Palette. Some Qwer fans want the Senior Singer to invite it, who cannot show up in broadcast stations since it is not considered to be real singers, to legitimatize it.

The rises of such acts are good for the acts themselves, but since they are unlikely to bring significant revenues for KPop when it is now declining heavily, is less than encouraging in the end.

Melon, long the hotbed of the Senior Singer and other enemies of KPop, isnow proving to be KPop's undoing.

When will the freefall of Kpop end when these acts cannot even stop what is basically animation figures?
