Despite Warning Signs of a Deadly Crowd Crush,
S.Korean Officials Didn’t Act ; 2022.11.17
An analysis, based on Official Documents and Parliamentary Testimony,
reveals a series of missed opportunities to prevent a disaster
that led to the DEATH of more than 150 PEOPLE in SEOUL (City).
A few days after the Itaewon disaster, a crowd gathered
near City Hall in Seoul to mourn the victims and protest
the official failures that allowed the deadly event to happen.

Less than a dozen police officers (S.KR) were in the area until 8 p.m., almost an hour and a half after the first call for help. Emergency dispatchers directed officers to street fights and other lesser incidents, while officials monitoring surveillance cameras didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.
