The German government presented the assumptions of the anti-inflationary package. Its value is EUR 65 billion.

  • The parties SPD, the FDP and the Greens, which form Germany's ruling coalition, have agreed on a EUR 65 billion third aid package to protect citizens and businesses from the effects of rising inflation, the German government informed.

"Quick and proportionate assistance to citizens and businesses is essential due to rapidly rising energy prices," wrote the document, which was drawn up after weeks of discussions between the coalition partners.

The package provides, inter alia, 1.5 billion euros for discounts in public transport and 1.7 billion euros for tax cuts for 9 thousand. enterprises from energy-intensive industries.

The government also intends to allocate funds from the tax on excess profits to lower gas, fuel and coal prices for consumers. According to Finance Minister Chrisitan Lindner, this source could provide "double-digit numbers of billions of euros".

Such an extraordinary tax would be imposed on some energy companies that profit from soaring prices, said Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a press conference.

He added that he will strive for such a solution to be introduced at the European Union level, but Germany is ready to act at the national level.

This is the largest of the aid packages agreed so far - emphasized Scholz. (translation done by me from rmf24.pl)
