BTS are more popular in japan than in USA

  • in US they are more of fandom driven but GP is still niche about them. and I don't think they are gonna give them chance because of all the stigma around boybands but BTS in japan are loved by GP even more than korea .

It just came into my mind after seeing that japan is only country where spotify streams for YTC actually increased instead of decreasing

  • Yeah. It's just sad to think about that BTS didn't get to tour in Japan after pre-pandemic era. Not really really related to charting but...

They can pull 1.5M attendees there if they focus in Japan as their touring turf. But I understand that USA is more lucrative for touring. Their last Allegiant stadium tour made them almost 40M USD and that's almost 9M USD each nights. While a dome tour in Japan is around 5M USD (that's almost 2x the revenue).

For BTS, they only need to tour 10-12 nights in their US stops to get a revenue of 100M, while in Japan they would need to tour more 18-20 times to get the same amount of revenue. Which is also the reason why HYBE and people hype up their US achievements more than Japan.

Still doesn't change the fact that BTS was the number 1 selling artists in Japan Oricon with 165M revenue. Sky is the limit for BTS atp.
