I. Introduction:
MASC (마스크; short for "masculine") was a four-member boy group under JJ Holic Media and Lotus E&M. They debuted on August 19, 2016, with the mini-album Strange. Their final lineup consisted of Woosoo, Heejae, and Ireah.
On October 17, 2020, the group announced their disbandment four years after their debut.
'2016: Debut with Strange
2017: "Tina", new members, and "Do It"
In September, the group announced the additions of four new members: Doeun, Chibin, Ireah, and Moonbong, for their upcoming comeback. Their second single, "Do It", was released on October 12.
2018: Departures of ACE, Chibin, 26, and Doeun
On July 30, JJ Holic announced the departures of ACE and Chibin after it was revealed earlier that an incident occurred back in March which ACE violently assault Chibin. ACE was removed from the group while Chibin, citing difficulties in continuing as a member due to recovering from the incident, would leave and pursue a career in acting.
During the ongoing news, 26 also announced his departure from MASC as he decided to pursue a new career as a director.
On October 22, their agency announced the group would come back as four, confirming the departure of Doeun as well.
2020: Disbandment
On October 17, the group announced their disbandment four years after their debut.
2023: Peak Time
On January 21, 2023, it was confirmed that MASC (with two members: Heejae and Ireah) will partake in JTBC's Peak Time. Their silhouette was revealed through a performance of "Eleven" by IVE.
2023: New Company
After becoming the runner-up's on Peak Time, it was announced on May 2, 2023 that both Ireah and Heejae would continue as the two members of MASC under PCS Entertainment, home to Dignity. Dignity's leader is also Luo who used to go by Moonbong and was the former maknae of MASC. The company website has already added MASC to their artists list with updated SNS and member profiles! An updated logo was also posted.
On May 8, 2023 PCS Entertainment announced that MASC would be changing their name. Seven Us is a combination of Heejae and Ire's precious number "7" and "us," which means to be with fans, playing as a team at 7 o'clock in "peak time." It is also the team name that was finalized after receiving votes from fans through Heejae's personal SNS. Hee-jae and Ire first announced their new name, Seven Us, in front of their fans through their "peak time" TOP6 concert over the weekend.
