Onew - DICE

  • I. Introduction

    "DICE" is Onew's second mini album. It consists of sixth title tracks, and was released on April 11, 2022 with "DICE" serving as the title track.


    II. Background

    Since back in 2021, Onew had plans to make a solo comeback. This would be a follow up to his debut mini album "Voice", which was released on December 5, 2018 five days prior to his enlistment.


    Onew discharged from the military on July 8, 2020, and he resumed activities with SHINee in January 2021.


    "Dice" was originally planned to be released in September 2021. However, it ended up being pushed back.


    Onew announced the upcoming release of "DICE" on March 31, 2022. He released teasers throughout the month of April up until the 11 when the mini album and MV for the title track "DICE" was released.


    Onew participated in writing lyrics for all songs, but his lyrics for "In the Whale" were the only ones used on the album. The lyrics for "In the Whale" express that he will always be by his fans side, even in the darkness.

    "DICE" debuted at #1 on the iTunes album charts of India, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Estonia, Philippines, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Cambodia, Colombia, Indonesia, Macau, Singapore, Slovakia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and Mexico. It sold 51,091 copies on its' first day on Hanteo's album chart. This is more than "Voice"'s first week sales at 31,552 copies. Which means, this is currently his personal record.
