  • I. Introduction

    Maniac is a digital single from NCT U, a rotational sub-unit of the boy group NCT. It was released on August 12, 2021.


    II. Background & Release

    Producer Ryan Jhun said when he was first developing the song for his "MAXIS" project, NCT was the first group to come to mind for it. Jhun has created numerous songs for SM Entertainment, including "My First and Last" and "Boom" for NCT Dream and "Kick It" for NCT 127.


    The NCT U sub-unit is a special promotional unit within the NCT boy group that is made up of rotational members. Members are chosen to perform based on the song and concept. Doyoung and Haechan partner as the NCT U unit on "Maniac." The pair are two of the main vocalists in the NCT sub-unit NCT 127 (Haechan is also a main vocalist in NCT Dream).
