D.Coy officially debuted on Feburary 19th, 2020 under Rolling Culture One. However, prior to the debut, the group had already been performing on the streets of Korea for 3 years as street performers. The name was selected for its similarity to Decoy in English, and their mission is to distract the audience with their music. D.Coy is not officially a traditional kpop group, but rather a rock band. Although some of the members had been trainees prior, they agreed to debut as a band for their shared interest in rock and indie music.
D.Coy self produce their music, writing and directing their releases, their producing skills were known before hand as the group had competed on
Naver’s Musician League MuseOn Open League prior to their debut, helping to build attention. This was bolstered by the fact they won both 1st and 2nd place in the competition with their music. They also made televised predebut performances on KG 5G Street Festival and the Sichuan Rock Festival in 2019.
Their official debut was with "Color Magic".
