Well SM/Avex did absolutely nothing to try make EXO bigger. They had so much potential. Growl was huge there, and in 2015 they were the youngest Korean act to sell out Tokyo Dome (and with did 3 dates in a row) and the first Korean act to do so without any Japanese release. What did SM/Avex do with that? Not much. They released their first full length Japanese album in 2018... Before that they had a single album (Jap version of Love Me Right lol) in 2015 and it topped Oricon. But after that Japanese fans barely got anything except for concerts. They only had 1 other single in late 2016 then nothing until 2018. Even EXO's sub-unit has more Japanese songs than the main group lmao..

Despite this EXO is still popular, especially considering the lack of promo/push.
