Blackpink hasn’t even surpassed snsd peak popularity?

  • I went on google trends and compared snsd and bp. Worldwide and from 2004-

Snsd in 2011 had a bigger peak than bp

    Is this accurate?

OP already said so, Google trends, as wiki says: '

Google Trends is a website by Google that analyzes the popularity of top search queries in Google Search across various regions and languages. The website uses graphs to compare the search volume of different queries over time.'

Those are not the results I got. If you select worldwide in Google Trends and compare both groups, SNSD has a relative peak of 79-80 in Dec 2011 and Jan 2013, but Blackpink has 2 higher relative peaks of 86 in Apr 2019 and 100 in Oct 2020.

In South Korea SNSD have had higher peaks in popularity though, with 31.5% in Gallup vs Blackpink's highest peak of 13.5% in Gallup.

  • No I’m talking worldwide, on google trends snsd had a higher peak.

you should consider the times too.. snsd were huge in a different digital era. now, almost everyone is online & living in the digital world, so bp's peak & snsd's online peak should be compared.

  • Why was my former post that was a reply to the first and second post of this thread not posted? What was wrong with it?

  • In Korea? Yes. Globally? No. KPop wasn't so huge back then. I also think they don't have something that attracts Westerners easily. BP and BTS made it through the cracks.

Who cares about Google peaks? So lame

  • I don’t know but Sandra Oh knows Blackpink and not SNSD and that’s the most important thing for me.

Never mind. Not technical reasons. I got it mixed up.

But it included a bunch of links and I mistook it for spam at first. My bad. Checked the links and they’re safe. Good to go!

  • if you're talking about popularity in South Korea then i agree, SNSD was HUGE in SK from 2009 when they released Gee until IGAB in 2013. Globally no obviously.

  • In Korea not all. Not even Twice did.

    Globally very clearly yes.

  • SNSD were massive. Not globally of course, K-Pop wasn't there yet, but SNSD did their part. One of the first KPop mv's I ever saw was I Got A Boy. And they still chart on that BR thing every month. They are KPop legends. No need to compare to Blackpink, both groups have a well carved out niche in the genre.

  • I looked it up and bp had higher peaks? SNSD for sure were more popular in korea, their level of promotion was also night and day compared to what BP gets, sm made sure they were everywhere meanwhile YG does nothing

  • SNSD has literally tons of releases and comebacks, content and variety promotions… 😂
