OP already said so, Google trends, as wiki says: '
Google Trends is a website by Google that analyzes the popularity of top search queries in Google Search across various regions and languages. The website uses graphs to compare the search volume of different queries over time.'
I went on google trends and compared snsd and bp. Worldwide and from 2004-
Snsd in 2011 had a bigger peak than bp
Is this accurate?
Those are not the results I got. If you select worldwide in Google Trends and compare both groups, SNSD has a relative peak of 79-80 in Dec 2011 and Jan 2013, but Blackpink has 2 higher relative peaks of 86 in Apr 2019 and 100 in Oct 2020.
In South Korea SNSD have had higher peaks in popularity though, with 31.5% in Gallup vs Blackpink's highest peak of 13.5% in Gallup.

In Korea not all. Not even Twice did.
Globally very clearly yes.

SNSD were massive. Not globally of course, K-Pop wasn't there yet, but SNSD did their part. One of the first KPop mv's I ever saw was I Got A Boy. And they still chart on that BR thing every month. They are KPop legends. No need to compare to Blackpink, both groups have a well carved out niche in the genre.

SNSD has literally tons of releases and comebacks, content and variety promotions… 😂
