korean beauty standards mean jackshit to koreans so why are international fans so obsessed with them

  • tons of koreans think ningning is the prettiest in aespa not everyone collectively agrees it’s karina. i’ve seen so many kr forum posts saying ningning is the visual but karina fits the “standards” to a T for example

this is just one example of the standards not mattering so why do i still see international fans aka becky from ohio going “___ wouldn’t be considered pretty in korea she has a long face and a wide nose and and and and and no v shape chin :( >-< “ man shut up

  • Korean beauty standards are still pretty strict. If you just happen to fullfill some of them, then obviously different koreans will have different preferences.

i don’t think its “korean beauty standards” it’s just being physically attractive lol this happens in every country

chaewon has a wide nose but nobody gives a fuck because she’s pretty

    doyeon too. literally nobody cares.

  • I'm not obsessed with it

  • some ifans just want to sound holier than thou

  • Korean Beauty standards are very strict. I'm very happy with the non strict western beauty standards. I just need to have a thick ass and big boobs while having a small waist simultaneously. Also 'exotic' facial features but make it white. So easy-going.

  • They do seem to have a lot of celebs whose faces are KBS - but without any thought to their facial proportions or harmony. It's piecemeal. High nose bridge, check. Big eyes, check. Jaw shaving and chin implant, check.

There are several Korean YouTubers who get their mothers onscreen to give their verdict on visuals, and they can be quite mathematical about it. It seems more about zooming in on each feature and concluding whether it's correct or incorrect. And not just women, they do the same with men too. I have noticed they seem more forgiving to non Koreans, accepting they're not bound up by their restrictive standards.
