Are dancing skills and singing skills on the same level?

  • Knowing that kpop groups are supposed to be singers first and foremost.

I often see people gash about certain groups being very talented but when I check them out I find they're poor singers but good at following choreography and it makes me think, does poor singing but good dancing make a singing group particularly talented?

  • A music group sells a product appealing mainly to a consumer's sense of hearing. A dance group sells to both a consumer's eyes and ears unless they are dancing to silence. Even people who only dance and are not idols sell music through dancing. Dancers just aren't the face of the music they dance to.

  • It depends on what you are searching on a group.

If It's good singers, ok. If It's good rappers, ok. If It's good dancers, ok. It's self-written/self-producted members, ok. And so It goes...

You don't need to put all of them in a box and trying to decide which skill is more important. All are artistic talents and are part of what K-pop represents as a whole. That's why a lot of times, K-pop groups aren't singing live, because they are priorizing dance-based performances. It's important.

So yes, standing out in one of those areas makes a group talented. Just not the talent you might be too interested.

For me, as long as the group's tone appeal to my ears, I don't care If they are some of the greateast singers out there or not. But If you get annoyed by "poor singing", than It's valid too. Who cares about our taste after all...

  • Vocal skills are 10 times more important than dance skills

  • Well they're first and foremost singers as they release music obviously. Dance is added as extra which can often enhance a song. But at the end of the day the dancing is made after the song is so singing is always more important than dancing.
