GG! As a tip:
1. starting from the center helps keep space around you so that you can branch in any direction, preventing you from being easily cornered.
2. Whenever the opponent has a three in a row, you have to cap one end of it or else it would be an automatic victory for the other player;
----three in a row takes two turns to complete and two turns to cap, so you must take that first turn to cap it or else it would turn into an uncapped 4 in a row that takes one turn to complete and two turns to cap---an impossible task to cap. If it is, however, a capped four in a row, then you could easily cap the other end in one turn to prevent it becoming a 5 in a row.

Don't worry! It definitely takes a little practice to get used to the games here. A good way actually ( for gomoku) is to get a Go board and pieces and play someone in your fam. That way you have a person to learn gomoku with and a good game to play aside from going on electronics tbh.
---I grew up challenging basically anyone in my family who cared to listen to play gomoku. None of us were good but when we started betting on who'll do the dishes or straight up money ( 5 dollars that I'll win sorta deal) we got really competetive and gradually started to build strategy.
