Why do you think Kpop stans are so obsessed with these IT titles nowadays?

I feel like back in 2nd or 3rd gen, people couldn't careless about it. But now that's all these 4th gen stans are talking about. Why? Has Kpop becoming more like these low-rated beauty contest where people pit women against each other than focusing on music?
