Japanese sales count but not Chinese sales or SEA streams?!

  • Isn't that kinda racist or at the least prejudiced? :eyebrowsr:

Or does this say something about the people downplaying Chinese and SEA sales/streams, in that they only wanna put on a pedestal the countries where their bias has strong sales ¬‿¬

FYI, China has a population of over a billion and is the 2nd power/economy in the world and still growing, makes really sense to ignore their sales numbers :tea-bee:

    Approved the thread.
  • People don't like when their faves can't profit from huge album sales from Chinese fans, so they'll discredit all groups that do have large Chinese album sales.

    Simple as that.

  • Companies sell albums for like 3-4 bucks in China. They're selling at evens or a loss to inflate sales.

  • Japan albums are expensive and they use Oricon chart which filters sales. That's why most people trust Oricon over Billboard Japan. Bulk buying is not a good look in Japan, even AKB48 groups got shit for their handshake sales over there.

Japan is less about album sales and more about concerts and touring.

Right, 2nd power in the world. Tell me what luxury brands are Chinese. Or what Tech they're leaders in. The simple fact that people like you don't get is that, you believe 10 albums at 1 dollar is the same as 1 album at 10 dollars. They're not. That for example, is the reason that the biggest music market in the world doesn't tour in Asia, it's not worth the trouble.

Also, regarding these chinese bars or whatnot. What a disingenuous concept, but this is another example of the kpop bait and switch. If they did total actual money earned for sales vs. albums, streams, etc, I have a feeling, it would be a lot easier to see who is actually successful. Imagine being happy that your faves sold a million albums, when I could buy the same million albums with the change I have in my pocket lmao

Is there any sources that the same k-pop albums are sold for a few dollars? If so, please share, it'd be a golden opportunity to get their faves' albums on the cheap instead of usual Korean rates for idol albums.

Also, single albums etc have been extremely cheap in SK too, it was the whole fight with the sales of the new rookie groups about, that JYP, Starship and the other companies are selling them ultracheap under 10 dollars, and tease Japanese-style with lots of handshake lottery events.

Yet k-pop fans still count those sales as equal to regular albums at regular prices, and don't bash them as much as they do Chinese sales.

Yet when Japanese album sales are discussed, incl that of the AKB48 groups, it's practically always about the impressive, huge sales, with hardly any bashes how it's achieved.

  • in Japan. Not on international Kpop forums.

  • Pretty sure japanese sales are more regulated and I don't think people discount sea streams nowadays, they just force weird narrative such as these fans don't spend money in albums and concerts.

As for china sales, most people argue they shouldn't represent who the top groups globally are, which I agree with. The inflation is a bit too much

and where is the source for these physical albums being sold at 10 for $1? Are you mistaking them for digital copies?

these cbars and cfans wouldn't be spending money buying in different stores like ktown and yzy (that sell albums for the same price as everywhere) if they had the opportunity to buy cheap albums in their country.

I do like to see you try buying a million physical albums for yourself, it would cost you tons of money and I don't think you have that much money, because if so you wouldn't be spending time on anon forums hating on a whole country because a group you don't like has more fans there than your faves
