I. Introduction
"Angel" is a digital single from Korean singer, songwriter and producer Chancellor, featuring Taeyeon. It was released on May 1, 2019.
II. Background & Release
Chancellor is a KR&B singer, songwriter and producer. Taeyeon was one of the main vocalists of the girl group Girls' Generation and is an award-winning soloist.
Chancellor released his first song in two years in collaboration with Taeyeon, his label mate under SM Entertainment. At the time, Chancellor was working at Million Market, a sub-label of SM Entertainment. In interviews, he said he thought she was perfect for it while writing the song and didn't have much hope she'd accept when he asked through the agency. He also talked about seeing her in Girls' Generation when he originally made his musical debut.
When it was released, it was reported the song was a pre-release ahead of an album "Til Death Do Us Part," but that album was never released. Chancellor did not release an album until 2021, under his new label, Konnect. This song also appears on that album, Chancellor, as a bonus track in a demo version without Taeyeon.
This song is an acoustic R&B song. Neither of the artists appear in the song's video. Taeyeon did not appear with Chancellor during any of his promotional performances of this song.
