  • I. Introduction

    Pieces is a mini album by IU, which was released on December 29, 2021 with Next Stop serving as the title track.


    II. Background

    The release of Pieces was announced on IU's social media on December 22, 2021 KST.


    Another special video teaser was released on December 24. She talked about the making process of Pieces and said that:

    Quote

    “This is a collection of the little ‘pieces’ that lay between the official images of myself that I revealed publicly throughout my musical career. All of my songs are very special and memorable to me, but instead of forming a complete picture on their own, they’re little pieces of a picture. I think that these five songs came together like that and formed a picture out of their ‘pieces.'”


    IU later dropped a pre-release live clip of her singing one of the songs Next Stop live.


    The mini album promptly came out to various streaming platforms on December 29.

    Winter Sleep debuted on the Genie Daily Chart at #1, Drama at #4, Next Stop at #6, You at #8, and Love Letter at #10. On the Bugs Daily Chart, Winter Sleep debuted at #1, Drama at #2, Next Stopo at #3, you at #4, and love Letter at #5. The mini album debuted at #1 on the MelOn Daily Album Chart.
