Heartbreak was announced on December 13, and teaser images were released for it. More teaser images were released on the 15 to 17. An MV teaser was dropped on December 20, and the full MV and song was released on the 21. He also performed it for the first time at his fanmeet Beyond LIVE - CHOI MINHO FAN PARTY “BEST CHOI's MINHO 2021” on the same day.
