"Chewing Gum" is the debut single from NCT Dream, a sub-unit of the boy group NCT. It was released on August 24, 2016.
II. Background & Release
NCT is unique among K-Pop groups due to the fact that the concept of NCT is an ever expanding group with "unlimited" members and is comprised of several individual subunits. NCT Dream was the third NCT sub-unit, debuting on August 24, 2016.
NCT Dream was designed as a teenage boy group, with members graduating from the group once they reached adulthood (20 in Korean, 19 international age.) At the time of debut, members ranged in age from 14 to 17. The group's debut single, "Chewing Gum" was released on August 24, 2016 and was co-written by 17-year-old member Mark. The song was recorded in Korean and Chinese and was re-released on the group's first EP, The First. The group made its debut with an eye-catching performance on hoverboards.
