V. Reception
William Schwartz of HanCinema has reviewed Hotel Lake as - All of this is compellingly frightening- just not in the way we tend to think of horror movies as being scary. This even as director Yoon Eun-kyung convincingly scatters suitably frightening setpieces amidst a dark brooding atmosphere. Hotel Lake is more gorgeous than it is scary, its apparent refinement an effective if perhaps too convincing mask for the deeper issues it explores. Asian Movie Pulse has stated - Despite not being generally bad altogether, “Lingering” tends to run through so many of the same formulaic tropes and setups that whatever good is developed here is washed away by that repetitiveness. Viewers new to Asian horror cinema or not completely turned off by this will find the film far more enjoyable while more seasoned viewers will be somewhat turned off by the formula as a whole even with the overall high watchability present.
It has currenly held the scores of 4.9 on IMDB &, 6.5 on Mydramalist.
