Kihyun


  • Kihyun (기현) is a South Korean singer currently signed under Starship Entertainment. He is currently the main vocalist of the boy group Monsta X.

    I. Pre-Debut

    Kihyun was born Yoon Kihyun (유기현) on November 22, 1993 in Seoul, South Korea.


    In December 2014, Kihyun competed in the survival show No.Mercy alongside his fellow Starship trainees. He was chosen as a finalist and became a member of the group that would become Monsta X. Through No.Mercy, Kihyun was involved in two predebut collaborations which he won on the show. He participated in the singles "Pillow" with Sistar's Soyou and Giriboy which was released in January 2015 and "0 (Young) with Giriboy, Mad Clown, and Jooyoung in February.

    II. Career

    Kihyun made his debut as a member of Monsta X on May 15, 2015 with the release of their first mini album Trespass.


    In that year, Kihyun recorded "Attractive Woman" with fellow member Jooheon for the drama Orange Marmalade. In October of that year he recorded his first solo OST "One More Step" for the MBC drama She Was Pretty.


    In 2016, Kihyun appeared on King of Mask Singer. He recorded another OST with an acoustic version of "The Tiger Moth" for the MBC drama Shopping King Louie.


    In 2017, he released the OST "I've Got a Feeling" for the SBS drama Suspicious Partner.


    In 2018, he again worked with Jooheon for the OST "Can't Breathe" for the MBC drama Partners for Justice and in June he recorded the duet "Love Virus" with WJSN's SeolA for tvN's What's Wrong with Secretary Kim.

    • He says he’s the best cook out of the members, since he has experience as a chef.
    • He said his cleaning nature came from his father whom he takes after.
