A Man and a Woman ( 남과 여) is a 2016 South Korean drama film starring Gong Yoo and Jeon Do-yeon. The film follows the relationship between two people who, though married to others, develop an intense attraction as they bond over the pressures and disappointments in their lives. The film was directed by Lee Yoon-ki, who also co-wrote the film with Sin Eun-yeong.
Sang-Min (Jeon Do-yeon) is a wife and mother who travels to Finland to send her autistic son to a special camp. There, she meets Ki-hong (Gong Yoo) an architect on business who is also married, but has a difficult home life with a spouse who struggles with mental illness. After getting caught in a snowstorm, the two have a one-night stand.
Back in South Korea, the pair unexpectedly cross paths again and begin to struggle with their desire for each other competing with their sense of obligations towards their families. Both are mired in unhappy marriages and feel overwhelmed with burdens, however the thought of how leaving would affect their loved ones fills them with fear and guilt. The film examines how each of these characters deal with the dilemma and make their choices.
