Idol (Group)

  • I. Introduction

IDOL was a Male South Korean duo group. At the time of his activities, they debuted under Daesung Planning (now DSP Media ) in 1996. The members were 16-17 years old at the time of their debut, and it was not common for teenagers to debut as singers at that time, so this group can be said to be the beginning of the 'teen craze' that blew in the Korean entertainment industry in the late 1990s . They debuted in the same debut year of HOT and brother group Sechs Kies, who led the heyday of K-Pop in the 1990s to early 2000s. Their debut song 'Bow Wow' drew a lot of attention from the public, but in 1997, they abruptly disbanded after a farewell stage after Sechs Kies had more success and DSP decided they could not manage 2 boy groups at the same time.
