Wonho


  • I. Introduction

    Wonho is sololist who debuted on September 4th, 2020 with his EP 'Love Synonym Pt. 1: Right for Me'. Before becoming a soloist, he was a former member of MONSTA X.


    His fandom name is WENEE, which means "WE are NEw Ending" and is also derived from "WE NEEd". Both emphasize Wonho's close relationship with his fans. With the former showing that in his career, he is journeying with his fans through it. The latter shows how Wonho and his fans are co-dependent of each other.


    II. Career

    Wonho used to be an ulzzang and he trained under Starship Entertainment for three years. Wonho was part of the four-member project group, NUBOYZ, with other members; Jooheon, Shownu, and #GUN. Eventually, this led to all the members participating in the survival show NO.MERCY. As he made it to the finals, Wonho ended up joining the group, MONSTA X, alongside Shownu and Jooheon. #GUN did not make it to the finals so he instead chose to do a solo career. MONSTA X debuted on May 14th, 2015. During his time with the group, Wonho participated in the writing and composing of some songs as well. Wonho was later involved in controversies, so he left the group on October 31, 2019, and debuted as a soloist the following year with his mini album Love Synonym Pt. 1: Right for Me. He did, however, pre-release the track LOSING YOU on August 13, 2020.


    He made his Japanese debut with On The Way ~Embrace~ on August 3, 2021 with the Japanese version of LOSE.
