FTISLAND (FT아일랜드), is a South Korean rock band formed by FNC Entertainment in 2007. The band currently consists of main vocalist Lee Hongki, bassist Lee Jaejin, and drummer Choi Minhwan. Guitarist Oh Wonbin left the band in 2009 and was replaced by Song Seunghyun. Former leader Choi Jonghoon left the band and retired from the entertainment industry on March 14, 2019, while Seunghyun left the group on December 31, 2019, to pursue his acting career.
FTISLAND debuted on June 7, 2007 with the full album Cheerful Sensibility, with title track Love Sick. The album combined 13 songs and was a huge success in South Korea. Selling over 79,000 copies in 2007, it was the 6th best-selling album of the year and all the songs of the album were aligning at the top of Korean charts. Love Sick kept the #1 rank on Korean charts for 8 consecutive weeks.
In June 2008 the band made its Japan debut with EP Prologue of FTISLAND : Soyogi. The band started getting recognition in the country following the release of their third Japanese studio album, Five Treasure Island, in 2011 which topped the Oricon Albums Chart. Additionally FTISLAND was the first foreign male band and the first band in 42 years to top the Oricon Daily Charts.
FTISLAND most well known songs include Love Sick, Thunder, After Love, Until You Return, Bad Women, Love Love Love, I Hope, Hello Hello, Severely. They are considered to be South Korea's first idol band.
