I. Introduction
Ida Simmons, or Kim Isak (이삭) as she is known in the Korean Music & Entertainment industry, is multi-talented VJ/DJ, singer/recording artist in Korea. She is fluent in Korean, Spanish and English.
II. Career
Isak's break in the Korean music industry started with her signing a contract and becoming an artist with SM Entertainment in 1999. This was at a time when SM was one of the 3 most famous entertainment companies in Korea with artists such as H.O.T. & S.E.S. dominating the K-Pop music charts.
She would debut as part of the female duo, “Isak N Jiyeon”, that released an album in late 2002. Although the duo had gained popularity, the album was not as heavily promoted as other SM artists usually were and ultimately the album did not become a major hit. Unfortunately, to this date, this is the only full-length album Isak has released. As the duo never released another album, despite having recorded a project called "Part 2" and started releasing teasers on their site. They sang an Korean version of the theme song for the Korean dub of the sixth season of Inuyasha. The original was Angelus by Hitomi Shimatani.
Since then, Isak has done a variety of other entertainment projects over the years such as acting and modeling but she is most well known at this time as being the VJ for the TV show “Pops in Seoul” and DJ for the radio program “Mid-Day Break” on the Arirang network in Korea. These shows are in English and are broadcast worldwide, both on networks as well as streaming online.
