I still think Vcha, Katseye and now Dear Alice are kpop groups! Why? Because all the support to them comes from kpop fans! They dance like K-pop idols, live to some extent as a K-pop idols, and are trained as K-pop idols! The only difference is they release songs only in English(K-pop groups nowadays are releasing too) and usually don’t have Korean members, and they don’t promote in Korea of course
I think that they can be called global groups because the word kpop means Korean popular music but why can't it be popular in other countries as well, why can't they just be called pop if they're boy band/group that is partly owned by korean entertainment company. If they can't speak Korea, understand the culture, or sing in korean then what makes them kpop. Vcha and Katseye are more kpop than dear Alice are or could be. Vcha, Katseye and other global groups have experienced being a trainee and knew the culture before they became one otherwise they wouldn't have decided to audition for an international company, whereas dear alice just became lucky and got chosen and learnt anout the culture during the few months they trained for. I'm a multi kpop Stan and I also like other non kpop songs from coldplay or sometimes nsync, but why can't they also be called kpop if they were partly owned by a korean entertainment company.
