In 2016, Dajeong was a contestant on the survival show Produce 101, where she represented Hello Music Entertainment. She was eliminated in episode 5, with her final rank being #62.
After being revealed as the first member of Hashtag on September 18, 2017 she officially debuted in the group on October 11, with the group's first mini album The Girl Next Door.
