Yoshi was a contestant of YG Entertainment's survival show "YG Treasure Box" in 2018. While he was not chosen for the main group Treasure, he was announced to be in the second group Magnum.
The groups were planned to promote together as TREASURE 13 and as two separate units, however, scandals in the agency prevented their debut.
On January 6, 2020, YGE announced that the groups would become one group known as Treasure, and they wouldn't debut them as two units.
Treasure released a performance video for their pre-debut track "GOING CRAZY" on Janaury 30. YG Entertainment announced on July 20 with a teaser video and poster that Treasure was set to debut on August 7. They released their debut single albuim "THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE" on August 7.
