1.4 first week
NJ is more popular globally than LSF, and LSF did 1.1 or 1.2 the first week with China boycotting bulk buying
yeah, Haerin’s hold on China is insane

It's not problematic but it's also not sth of high value artistically
It's not like Olivia is some pop legend
She is a contemporary artists with even less albums than Yena I believe
It's uninspired and cringe at best
I believe yena would have debuted before rodrigo even
Maybe that’s why it leaves feels distasteful, it’s like punching down on a junior

It looks like a click bite and a cheap publicity stunt mixed with using someone elses fame all together
it’s clout chasing but somehow cringier

She's reinforcing a view and mindset that is leading to the type of radicalization and division amongst the social fabric. "Social unrest" is hyperbolic, but the increasing prevalence of the transactional ideology, the retreat of 2nd wave and 3rd wave feminism is in part due to these sorts of views.
At the height of 2nd Gen, early 3rd Feminism there was a sustained push from both genders, the ones interested in the elevation of women (the number 1 indicator of a society's health and progress is the health and life outcomes of women, it is literally the bedrock of post-enlightenment modern civilization). Part of this push was the understanding and deepening of cross-gender ties, in the form of informal and formal relationships. Young men better understand women if they are friends with them, and vice versa. It was a literary understanding and viewpoint, and in the 90's and 00's was probably at it's zenith.
It's retreated in the past 15 years due to a number of factors, but capitalism, economic pressures, the internet has all created a toxic landscape which led to the creation of things like pick-up artists, incel movements, TERFs, post-feminist movements that treat men simply by their net worth or salary (tied to capitalistic pressures, and other factors which are too long to discuss here). Both sides have essentially retreated, and I'd obviously point out that it was mostly Men first, so let's not demur and point that out, but it's come with the increasing message or viewpoint like Jisoo's - men and women can't be friends, which has found it's claws amongst young women, leading to transactional relationships that alienate men, and thus the toxic cycle continues.
It's up to both genders, men by far, far call out other men's behavior, and women to stop reinforcing toxic narratives about cross-gender relationships.
It's literally the only way some of the gender based alienation will stop.
She's not out there promoting the view per se, or I believe she didn't mean to, but it's not a good look.
She should choose her words or viewpoint more carefully.
you’ve written way too many points to address in total but I broadly agree with the background you’ve provided here
I just disagree with the sentiment of cancelling people for this exact type of scenario. As a woman in the entertainment business in one of the more patriarchal developed nations, she’s just as much of a victim of this (which as you’d rightly pointed out, are mostly economic or to do with the internet)

OMG and Ditto have re-entered Apple Music Global. Streams are starting to pick up here and there. It’s comeback season

That's exactly what she did. Did anyone actually watch it? She's not just going "oh well in my life'. It was prompted as a general answer to a general question, but she gave personal reasons in response.
She took a personal experience and generalized it. Everyone's allowed to discuss their preferences, their life choices, the personal experiences and struggles they had. But don't generalize it. Anecdotes do not equal data.
just so I understand why you’re so stressed
- she generalised what should have been stated as personal (debatable as we’re relying on translations)
- she’s taking a view which you have linked to mass social unrest
- she should be cancelled
Is that what you’re on about?

Idk if it's a weird move
their early stuff were very rap oriented
now that you mention it, Replay is sooooort of a boom bap beat, but it’s obviously more of an RnB song in the end

Wake up bb new proof just dropped
Looks like NJ sell physicals just fine

smino's blk swn album is possibly most listened to rap album of all time, i highly suggest you check it out when you can. the most recent one i haven't had as much time for but it's still fun.

cutest thread in a while

Any examples come to mind? I cant think of any single that didnt have it's own official MV. To me, this is the clear demarcation between a single and a true B side.
Take Two
-
Honestly it's not charts, sales, brand deals etc that determines who the top group is.
It's the visceral distain and essays that they get when people call them the top group that determines that
its like cirque du soleil with all the mental gymnastics that goes on
and the clowns too
-
i don´t like op
i know op threads are all troll or hate
but i watched the program very happily until Jisoo said that
i am not sure if that was scripted, but i didn´t like it AT ALL.
i stoped right there and couldn´t continue
can you give some proper context to her line?
-
This is 10000 percent true.
Official MV = single. Call it a title, prerelease, alternative, whatever you want, but it's NOT a Bside, it's a single.
As long as you also include that there are singles that don't have MVs, then I can agree with this

TTH is a combination of song popularity, artists popularity, label push and the Spotify curators' willingness.
I think there are two major reasons:
1) It doesn't pass the song and/or artist popularity check.
2) Labels don't think the return on investment is worth it.
Fans always want bigger numbers. But companies want profits and profit margins. TTH may have a big exposure, but it probably also has one of the worst conversion rates. People there are just listening to whatever is popular and will probably never listen to those songs again once they leave it. It's the polar opposite of the fandom culture that maintains K-pop.
Spotify also just straight up doesn't pay that much and doesn't really create stans
YT being a visual medium plays more to Kpop's advantages and can create long-paying stans, so I see why it's considered a good investment

love earthgang!! still listening to mirrorland and run it up to this day
and the beats are so much better idk the bass is hitting just right for me
brb going to add this to my commute playlist
i can't believe i'm seeing earthgang praise on this forum

BUT I do agree with "men and women in kpop cant be friends" because of the immaturity of knets and kpop fans that even looking at a member of the opposite sex = DaTiNg ScAnDaL!!!
great angle unironically
Jisoo knows her audience, she’s giving them what they want. People who are trying to read her like they read Noam Chomsky are doing so in obvious bad faith
