You seem to think that by bringing up BTS you would make my points invalid
Or i'd feel guilty and abandon my observations.
Like if you want to talk BTS, I would love to talk BTS. I can take you on a BTS "identity" journey from the start. We can analyse their albums to show you what was key to their identity and how while they had so many changes in concepts and style, changes in genre over the years their core never changed. And a huge part of that is because their albums are hugely THEM (their thoughts, their feelings, their hurt, their love for their fans, their anger) Their albums were even conceptualised to show growth, to show THEIR journey.
You want to talk about the hate BTS received? I can document it for you. We can start from when they switched from underground to idol music. It was their first "selling out" accusation.I got the tea.
We can go.
But my points were not about BTS.
Let me repeat my observation :
- IVE arent copying DITTO with this
- Instead they are following what's trendy
- It is not impossible to follow trends while still keeping a strong identity/your artistry
- My gripe is and will always be when kpop companies drop their groups identities to follow trends
- Starship started IVE out with a strong identity but in my opinion they're mellowing them out
Like I do not want to be feeding y'all replies on here but
here's a good reply to me :
"I don't agree, I think IVE's identity was still strong in the song...here let me explain why..."
Or, this one :
"Maybe I understand what you mean..but I think it's too early to judge IVE yet"
I fought whether I should even reply to this post but I just had to. This time though, I really think I done said enough.
